My Overweight, Out-Of-Shape Self

Posted by Vogeler on January 7, 2008

Well.

I used to be in great shape.  Then, I slipped to being in pretty good shape.  When I got married, I was sliding down the slope to average shape.  Having been married for a year-and-a-half, with a wife who cooks excellent meals, packs my lunch for me, and buys groceries every week, I am now definitely in less-than-average shape.

Ergo,  my boss, friend, and business partner Brett and I are going to convert half of my garage (I have a garage!  Hooray!) into a workout area.  So far, we have my training bag and some carpet.

We plan on getting a hanging bag, some weights, and some other stuff.

So, if you’re in north-east Indiana and want to work out, call me.

Also, if you have workout equipment you aren’t using anymore and that you want to donate to poor (ok, not really, but student loan payments suck), out-of-shape people, let me know, cause we’ll probably take it.  🙂

i’m glad the fact that your health has gone down hill is credited to me. 🙂

i would like to know if anyone has any or knows where i can find healthy recipes that aren’t salad and aren’t fish. seems like every healthy recipe i find is one of those two. gets kind of old…

Oh, I have a new recipe book called Simply in Season. It is packed full of healthy recipes that use vegetables that are locally available in each season. I’ve tried a bunch of the recipes and they are really good and healthy, and pretty creative. Each season is its own section, which is then broken down by breads, salads, soups, sides, main dishes, desserts, and miscellanious recipes. Oh, and there is a section at the end with recipes made from stuff available year round. Oh yeah, aaaannndddd, it’s full of tips on how to keep your veggies from going bad, cost effective ways to support local food and farmers, and a bunch of other tips.

I think you can search amazon for it, and they have a website: http://www.simplyinseason.org.

If you want, you can take a look at mine, just let me know and we’ll get together sometime!

  3. I added it to my cart at Amazon. Thanks, man!

    Todd,
Try http://www.crossfit.com – I have been using their workouts for about a month. They have a section on building a gym in your garage, with suggestions on building your own stuff. Let me know what you think (and my computer crashed and I lost your email address!)

  5. Cool site! Thanks, Ralph!
