Another Christmas Gone

Posted by Vogeler on December 27, 2006

So Christmas 2006 is finally over.  It was my first Christmas with my wife and son.  That was very cool.

However, even though I broke out the Christmas CDs in August (much to the chagrin of my wife), I had a hard time really getting into the spirit of things.  I mean, usually I’m an absolute FREAK at Christmas time.

I think part of it was that we were so busy.  We had eight different celebrations to attend this year.  And, there was no fireplace to cuddle by.  That might have helped.

I got tons of cool loot, especially books and giftcards for books. I bought a couple that I’m very excited about: Historical Geography of Bible Lands by Howard Vos and Bones of Contention: A Creationist Assessment of Human Fossils by Marvin L. Lubenow.  The first one covers just about everything you’d need to know about any of the lands mentioned in the Bible, from a historical, geographical, economic, military, and religous standpoint.  I’m really excited.  🙂

Did anyone else (besides Carma!) have a hard time getting into the spirit of things this season?  If so, did you fix it?  How?

What was your favorite moment of this holiday season?  Any favorite gifts received?

i had a hard time. i think it was the weather. much too warm, and no snow. it hasn’t really snowed much at all this year, and it still feels like Fall. (Actually, i didn’t wear a coat to work today!)

Last Thursday, i started playing Christmas music at work, and that seemed to help some. i kept telling Emily ‘Merry Christmas’ every time i could, and that helped some, too.

i’m looking forward to reading as well!

Frankly, I had a terrible time getting into the Christmas spirit this year.

I was looking forward to celebrating the birth of Jesus with my brothers and sisters in Christ, but nearly every single Christian I spoke with was consumed with the gifts they might be getting. It broke my heart and my spirit to see that happen. It also helped me realize that I have been in that same trap for years, and it gave me incentive to begin breaking free.

I was finally able, but I think the weather played a big part of my inability. A light dusting of snow would have really helped.

Sorry every one God answered my chirstmas wish list 1. NO SNOW , 2. a great time with family and friends, and 3. an mp3 player ok so I am not perfect. I had a hard time with the season as well but that was due to unexpected situations, but on the most part it was a joyous celebration.

Getting into the Christmas spirit was hard…since it’s been in the 70s and 80s since Thanksgiving… Sheeshaweesha!

It was a lovely Christmas for me. I loved watching the excitement the kids had in receiving AND giving their gifts! They all have very giving hearts 🙂 I’m proud.

Of course, it pretty much stunk that I wasn’t home for Christmas, but that’s okay. I’m sure you all know that I love and miss you very much 🙂
