Come Out, Come Out, Whoever You Are….

Posted by Vogeler on November 29, 2006

So, I see that there are 914 hits on my blog.

I know Nathan looks at it. I know Jeremiah does. And Adam. And Carma, Michael, Abby, and of course, my beloved wife Bethany.  And Kym and Dustin.

So….each of those persons has viewed my blog over 100 times in less than two weeks?  I think not.

So….I’m asking you to reveal yourselves!  I’m very interested in who is reading my blog.  If you don’t want to, you don’t have to, but I think it would be neat to know who I’m reaching.

If you’d rather not post,  you can email me at:

I’d love to hear from you.  Feedback is good, too.  🙂

Our First Christmas

Posted by Vogeler on November 29, 2006

We set up our Christmas tree last night.  Actually, my wife did it while I worked on my Romanticism project.  When I got home from class last night (at 6:30pm, yuck!)  I was greeted by the sight of multi-colored Christmas lights merrily twinkling from our balcony.   Of course, Luke was enchanted by the “pretties” as he called them.  He had to show them to me as soon as I walked in.  🙂

He was also fascinated by the ornaments.  He removed one and brought it to Bethany this morning, shrieking, “Ball!”  I can’t wait to see what he’s like Christmas morning.

What are some of your favorite Christmas memories?  Hopefully, I’ll get more replies to this than my Thanksgiving post……(hint, hint!).

Have a good day.

-Todd

What’s In A Name?

Posted by Vogeler on November 27, 2006

I discovered something about myself today.  The Hebrew words and pronunciations of God’s titles and names mean much more to me than English or Greek.  Adonai for instance.  When I am deep in prayer, whether anguished or just overcome with His glory, calling him Lord just doesn’t seem to cut it.  That’s when, almost unbidden, Adonai or El Shaddai escape my lips.

Does anyone else share this?  What are your favorite names for God?  (In whatever language.)

I look forward to replies!!

A Test of Faith

Posted by Vogeler on November 27, 2006

So my wife calls me at around 2 o’clock this afternoon.  She is south of Auburn, pulled over to the side of the road, smoke billowing out from under the hood of her car (the same car we spent $800 fixing 3 weeks ago).

I go talk to my service writer, Steve.  He talks to our Service Manager, Dave (I work at Harold GM Superstore in Angola, IN in case you didn’t know).  Dave calls a tow truck.  Has it towed to our sister-store, Ben Davis.

Come to find out, a hose popped off.  Spewed coolant everywhere.  They’re putting the hose back on.

I ask how much.  Dave says, “don’t worry about it.”  They offer to drop it off to my wife at work.

These guys know how to take care of customers.

If you need service work, call them first.

Thanks, guys.

Thanks, God.

I appreciate it.

Illness

Posted by Vogeler on November 27, 2006

I have an illness. I am very sick.

I caught this disease at my local church.

I didn’t have it in the past.

Not everyone there has it. Some people seem to be immune to this disease.

My symptoms include: lack of compassion; dry, legalistic relationship with God; self-righteous attitude; intellectual imperialism; and an inward focus.

Many people at my church do not have this disease. But many do.  It’s name is Religion.

I have an illness. I am very sick.

Only God can save me.

You know what annoys me?!

Posted by Vogeler on November 25, 2006

People who slow down to 25 miles an hour in a school zone ON SATURDAY! IT’S SATURDAY! THERE ARE NO CHILDREN PRESENT. YOU DON’T HAVE TO SLOW DOWN UNLESS THERE ARE CHILDREN PRESENT. THAT’S WHAT THE SIGN SAYS. Idiots.

Let us give thanks….

Posted by Vogeler on November 22, 2006

Since tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I thought it would be nifty to have everyone say what they’re thankful for. It can be anything, and any length. Hopefully this will remind of us just how blessed we are, and help us stay thankful throughout the year.

I am thankful for:

My Savior and my God, Jesus Christ, and His gift of salvation.

My two miracles: Bethany and Luke

My family

All of my wonderful friends!! Love you guys!

And lots more!!

Predestined: Yes, or No?

Posted by Vogeler on November 20, 2006

Today’s Question for Debate:

Has God predestined us to be His followers and to receive salvation?  Or do we have a choice?  I would prefer examples from the Bible to support your position.  And remember, Be Nice!!  (this is obviously from a Judeo-Christian/ Fundamentalist Christian worldview.  If you have another view, feel free to share it, just make sure to tell us so we don’t miss it!)

Have the best Monday possible.

Thanks,

-Todd

Questions for Debate

Posted by Vogeler on November 20, 2006

Hey, all,

I’m starting something new today.   Occasionally, I will post questions, and I want answers.  Your answers.  (I already have my own).   Talk about it.  Discuss it.  Disagree about it.  But above all, THINK!!  Use that crazy noggin.

Some guidelines:

1.  BE RESPECTFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  If you’re not, I will delete your posts, and quite possibly come to find you.  I know where you live.  So be nice.

2.  Be honest.  This is a place where you can share your thoughts and feelings without being embarrassed or ashamed.  If someone does make you feel that way, let me know.  Cause then we see the above rule.

3.  Be ready to defend what you say.  If you don’t have solid reasons for it, don’t post it.  That’s annoying.

4.  Enjoy!!

-Todd
